Saturday, April 14: Susquehanna Speedway, PA Racing season is well under way and I apologize for keeping you all in suspense! As some of you may know, we are planning on competing in the full 2008 ARDC midget schedule with a new Spike chassis and used, but powerful, Bob Wirth Chevy Engine. This is only made possible with the help & support of the sponsors and friends that support the team. Rejoining us from last year are PowerMist Racing Fuels of Newton, NJ, MacMillan Oil Co. of Allentown, PA, Broadway Automotive of Broadway, NJ and Ayers Enterprises (towing and body repair) of Columbia, NJ. We are happy to welcome the Tire King from Kintnersville, PA, DJ Safety, and Mayberry Sales & Service of Port Murray, NJ as new sponsors for the 2008 season. Please take note of, spread the word, and patronize these companies that support the sport we all love. You can check them out at: PowerMist Racing Fuels, Newton, NJ www.powermist.com (contact SBF Race Products 908-475-2115) DJ Safety www.djsafety.com (contact SBF Race Products 908-475-2115) The Tire King, Kintnersville, PA www.lyonstires.com or contact Broadway Automotive MacMillan Oil. Co -contact Broadway Automotive Broadway Automotive, Broadway, NJ (908)-689-2226 Ayers Enterprises, Columbia, NJ (908)-475-2864 Mayberry Sales & Service www.mayberrys.biz The first race of the season is behind us: On Saturday, April 12th, I started 14th in the feature. (For those of you who are non-familiar with ARDC, they invert the top 18 in the feature field of 26 cars based on the drivers' previous 3 points races.) Although the track was dry and slick, I was advancing steadily and even think I was up to 8th at one point. Towards the end of the race, after I broke through the traffic, I started going into the turns harder, thus sliding up the track farther coming off the turns. Unfortunately, I did not learn my lesson until one lap to go when I spun out because I overdrove the car. I passed a few cars on the last lap, but still ended up 15th. Not exactly what I was hoping for after a strong run, but the car was in one piece and the whole team was pleased with the way the new Spike was working. We know a win is not far away! Our next race is scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd at Susquehanna Speedway in Newberrytown, PA. For those interested in attending, the show starts at 6pm. In case of inclement weather, the track phone number is (717) 938-9170. For additional track information, go to www.sspracing.net. Please let me know if you're planning on coming so that I can make sure I say hi!
