Wednesday, May 21st-Grandview Speedway:
Chasing gearing and set-ups all night long, it was our least impressive night of the season, but ironically our best finish in 2008. I qualified through the heat, started 2nd in the feature, lost most of the positions on restarts because of gearing, and finished 7th place. We weren’t thrilled with the results, but the car was in one piece and we were in the top 10-not too terrible.
Friday, May 23rd- Penn Can Speedway
For those who have never been to Penn Cannyy Speedway before, it is very tight and the smallest track ARDC has raced at so far this season. It makes for exciting races, as it’s difficult to pass and avoid accidents. Unfortunately, we were the victim of one of those accidents. On a lap 16 restart in the feature, while running 7th or 8th, a car in front lost control and collected us, damaging our front end. A rain delay during the caution (which turned into a red) enabled the crew to switch front axle assemblies. They had the car repaired in no time! Kudos to the crew for their determination and hard work in getting me back out on the track. I restarted the feature 21st and finished 14th. Not the finish we were looking for, but a strong run for the team.
Saturday, May 24th-5 Mile Point Speedway
Again, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The car was strong and dad had the set up down. Unfortunately on a restart early in the race, we were collected in an accident beyond our control and we dropped out of the race. Official finish was 24th.
